AFTER THE WEDDING
Here’s what our military couples typically do once they’re married. In our experience, the certified marriage certificate has been all they needed. Your unit’s admin or personnel office can confirm anything specific to your branch.

Your marriage is recorded by Utah County. Order certified copies of your marriage certificate; it helps to keep two or three on hand.

Take a certified copy to an ID card office to enroll your spouse in DEERS and get their military ID card.

Submit your marriage certificate through your unit’s admin or personnel office to update BAH and other entitlements.

Marriage is a qualifying life event. Once DEERS is updated, your spouse can enroll in TRICARE within 90 days of your wedding.

If you’ll use your certificate in another country, you may need an apostille. We can arrange it for you when you book or anytime after.

Can we get married online if one of us is deployed?
Yes. Utah allows both of you to join your ceremony by live video from different places, even different countries. You just both need a steady internet connection at your scheduled time.
Is an online wedding legally binding for military couples?
Yes. Your marriage license is issued by Utah County and your marriage is recorded there, so you receive an official Utah marriage certificate, the same as any couple married in Utah.
What do we need for DEERS and BAH?
In our experience, a certified copy of your marriage certificate. Your ID card office and your unit’s admin office will tell you anything else your branch requires.
Can my partner join from overseas or a ship?
Yes, from anywhere with a reliable connection. We officiate 24/7, so we can schedule around time zones, watch rotations and duty hours.
Who qualifies for the military discount?
Couples where one of you is active duty, Guard or Reserve, or a veteran or retiree. Apply it at checkout, then include one proof of service (military ID, LES, DD-214 or orders) when you upload your IDs.
